Queensday 2012/koninginnedag parties in Amsterdam Full!!

The queensday festival organised by Slam!FM (Dutch radiostation) is full, no more people are alowed in. The rest of the parties organised for this day are completely sold out. (at least 30,000 people bought tickets in the presale).

The capital is less busy now than last year but still the streets are flooding with people.

The queen vistited Rhenen and Veenendaal today. It was not sure for a long time if she would even be there since her son prince Friso had his accident. How proud we are to say that our strong queen has come and joined her people in the festivities. They all took part in several games and activities that were organised for the royal family and it really looked like they had forgotten about their trouble for just a few moments. Our heart goes out to them!

koninginnedag 2012, Queensday 2012

Tomorrow it is 30th april and it is what we call koninginnedag. A national holiday where there are many events in our country. A common festivity is a oranjemarkt (literally orange market), fleamarket, junksale. In almost every city and town is one.

One of the cities which is most popular is off course Amsterdam! There is a giant market and there usually are many musical events. There have been years it was so crowded in Amsterdam that it was forbidden to go in. Nobody was admitted to enter the city and for whom that went there know Amsterdam is a large city, so just imagine....

Also in Eindhoven, the place I like the most, there are many festivities. Tomorrow I will show some pictures of my favourite holiday!

Price collection tomorrow - thanks to Hyundai UEFA EURO 2012

Tomorrow I get to collect my price!

When I was called they told me a photographer for a newspaper will be present, how exciting! I will get this voucher to go shopping for 500 euro and I must admit, I looked! I already got a wishlist.. Also I was especially full attention when kharkov was mentioned on the news, this is the place where the soccermatch will be where I have won tickets for..

Wonder if there are many common people who would spend this much money to go to a match of their national soccer team?

I am so curious to see.... Go Dutch Lions!

Madeleine McCann alive?

The 5 year old girl from the UK Madeleine McCann could possibly be still alive. This was confirmed by the police in London.

The police took another look at the evidence and found out that she might as well be still alive. The british police informed Portugal, where she vanished in may 2007, and asked them to reopen the case.

Following a picture how Maddie would look now..

When the beer just tastes too good..

Well yesterday we had the surpriseparty. It was so much fun! The guy just did not expect it and was totally surprised. He came up blindfolded and was just stunned when he was surprised. As mentioned it was an American party, which means as much as bring your own drinks... And boy.. did they... Some even brought over a deepfryer to fry snacks.

The hostess just was so tense the last couple of weeks, she had to keep things quiet for her boyfriend, so when finally it was time to party, she really let herself go. At about 11 she was as much as hammered and was really losing herself.. At about midnight she was posting all kinds of crazy stuff on Facebook and at 1 in the morning she was knock out. All this tension just got to her.

All and all it was a great party. Just a reminder to myself, be carefull with alcohol it just might catch up with you in the end...

Welcome home party

tomorrow we arranged a welcome home party for a friend. He was away for a long time and tomorrow he will be surprised. It is an American party, Americans might call it a Dutch party, since everyone is bringing their own drinks.

He is going out to eat and when he comes back his house will be filled with his friends. Wonder how he reacts!! You too? Well might tell you tomorrow!

Party!!!!

economic crisis, what is it now?

I stated in an earlier post that it is my view that media has great influence on peoples' reactions on certain events. When the media state "Danger, the economic crisis is going to be even worse", people will certainly be cautious and spend as little as possible which would result in a worse economical climate.

I would wish that media would understand this and try to activate people to spend more, which would help the economical situation in stead of keep scaring us.

Yes, people, we are in an economical difficult time, but NO please do not stop spending your money. If you have a steady job and are not in need to save up, then please don't! Rich people, miljonairs, please now is the time to let your dollars, euro's roll, help our country and the world and spend your money, which will eventually result in you earning even more!

Evonomical times are hard now but we have already hit rockbottom and we can only go up from here, so people chin up and see our future is bright as ever!

Peelland Truckrun 2012

Today the Truckrun will take place in town. The truckrun is established years ago to entertain disabled boys and girl.
It is a large group of trucks (about 300) that go through town, using their horns.

The kids are in the trucks having the time of their lives, horning, waving to the crowd and smiling with their whole faces. It is a great event, lots of people come to watch this and wave to the kids that will never forget this experience. Later today I will add some recent pictures.

Big win on facebook competition!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are lots of ways to win free stuff. When you keep an eye out onto the sidebar in your facebook page there are usually lots of competitions mentioned. I usually enter these competitions since they are free and usually they require almost no effort.

Well guys.... I hit it big! I had entered a competion for Hyundai. As you might now Hyundai is a big sponsor of the European soccer championship that will begin June. To promote this they had start up a competition. They were asking for a slogan to put on the Dutch players'bus. I had entered and well, thursday I received an email. I was one of the ten winners!!!

What did I win? A trip to the European Soccer championship by airplane to the Ukraine, to attent the match Holland-Germany, complete with meals, transfers and planeticket. AND a voucher to shop in an online clothing store for 500 Euro's!!!!!

So guys, you might consider entering these competions on facebook. This year alone I have won every month, off course not all big prices but still.... Winning is FUN!

Vodafone Netherlands still struggling

Vodafone is still struggling to get the network up again in the Netherlands. Due to a fire most backup servers and control units were destroyed. The setup of the new signaling towers is a manual job and takes hours to finish. Many Dutch people are victim of this total blackout and are looking for alternatives.

Vodafone blackout in the Netherlands

Due to a fire, the Vodafone network has blacked out in the Netherlands. The blackout is now for 2 days and companies are suffering because of it. People not able to use their number, not able to call and take care of business are losing money everyday! Hoping the problem will be solved soon, Vodafone probably have not heard the last of this. People are taking action to make sure this will not happen again and are planning to sue the company.

Stratum,eindhoven, koninginnedag, queensday.

April just started and in april we have a national holiday called koninginnedag (queensday). This day we celebrate the birthday of the mother of our current queen Beatrix. The queen visits a town and does some games and waves to the public, talks to the mayor. There are fleamarkets all over the country and festivities are held everywhere.

In Eindhoven there are a lot of festivities, flea market, games and off course eindhoven is a great town to go out at night. Koninginnenacht (queensnight) is the evening and there are music events everywhere, all people go out that night and have a blast. Eindhoven, especially stratum is a great place to have your koninginnenacht!

April Fools prank of the year

On the news was announced a meteor shower would hit a small town in the netherlands. News, radio, local and nationwide tv were there to witness this event. When all were waiting all of a sudden a smoke cloud rises above the forrest ahead. There apparently was a meadow fire. Luckilly the authorities were already there to guide the public, so they noticed the fire quickly.

So the fire was taken care of and now the public was waiting for the meteorshower to hit. Then all of a sudden planes fly over and parachutist drop. April fools day!!

The media still were glad to be there to broadcast the fire, so it was one good joke!
