Dutch sentence of the week!

To learn dutch well, there is a lot needed. So I thought I would start with giving you guys a sentence a week to get to know the basics. How about that? Like the idea?

First off: Getting to know eachother.


Hallo, hoe gaat het met jou?
Hello, how are you doing?

Hallo=                               Hello

Hoe gaat het met jou=     how are you doing
jou=                                  you
hoe=                                 how
het=                                  it

Literally gaat means go/is going. So literally the sentence means: how is it going with you. In dutch however it is said like this.
