Prince Friso seriously injured

Prince Friso the son of our queen Beatrix and brother of our future king has been seriously injured. This happened in Lech in Austria, where the royal family was taking a skiing trip. They return to Lech every year and all members of the royal family are skilled skiers.

Apparantly prince Friso, a well trained skier, took a ride alongside the piste and stumbled on an avalange.
He had a avalangebeeper and signaled for help, help arrived 20 minutes later and the prince was revived after laying under the snow for a long time.

Uncertain is how he is doing now, we know he is seriously fighting for his life, he has a skullfracture and doctors say it is impossible to make any predictions at this time.

Vacation, whaaa

I am really longing for a vacation and I actually cannot wait. Still I have not found anything that really got me excited, which means look further for me! Tomorrow Carnaval begins in the south of Holland and everybody is excited. However we are all excited tomorrow, by monday the friendly, festive atmosphere usually turns into drunk, agressive behaviour. So I will definately go out but not after sunday.

Sunday there is a parade and the youth will get on carts and drive through town. The parade starts at 13.11 and that is the time they will start drinking too, you can imagine, sunday is usually not the busiest of days in the pubs since most are hammered at 16.00.

A few years back an accident occured and a young boy fell of the cart and died. Since then it is forbidden to use any alcohol during the parade. However forbidden the participants are very clever and have several ways to still use alcohol. It is said some of them even got a producer of lemonade to put beer in lemonade cans....

Please people, carnaval is sucha great party, keep it a party and behave!

Groupon misleading dutch companies? Plastic from biomass?Yes!

The dutch commission for advertising surely seems to think so. The verdict during a trial held last thursday was that Groupon is misleading them. They apparantly make the Dutch companies think their predictions about returning customers after a deal are based on the dutch visitors of the site but in fact they are based on statistics of residents in the U.S.A..

This resulted in Dutch companies offering groupon deals which were not at all profitable for them with the idea the customers would return, but dutch are dutch and they seem not to return.

What the consequenses are of the verdict is not clear yet and the Groupon spokesman had no comment after the trial.

Dutch scientists have succeeded in creating a method to produce plastics with biomass (green waste). They have had a method before but it was to difficult to actually use in normal production. This new method is less consuming and a definate possibility to use. Krijn de jong (developer) and Dow Benelux are now looking into possibilities to start producing.
