It seems there are plans made for an Elfstedentocht. The ice skating tour through 11 villages has not been skated since 4th january 1997. This was the last time because it never was cold long enough for the ice to get thick enough. The tour is skated on natural ice so it depends on the weather if it can start or not.
The tour is very popular and in 1986 our prince Willem-Alexander even participated. He was offcourse anonymous and started with the name W.A. van Buuren.
All Dutch men and women are hoping for it to start this year, one thing is sure it is COLD, hoping it will last for another week to get the Elfstedentocht started!
